Personal Information Collection Statement

How we use the personal data collected in this booking system

  1. The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (“OGCIO”) will use the personal data collected in this booking system for the following purposes:
    • processing the application for quota under this scheme and handling enquiries relating to the application;
    • carrying out the matching procedures under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) to process the application, vet the information and confirm the eligibility of applicants (including to confirm whether (i) the Hong Kong Identity Card (“HKID”) number provided is valid; (ii) the date of birth is correctly inputted; and (iii) the holder of the HKID concerned is not a deceased person;
    • verifying the quota under this scheme; and; and
    • collating statistics and carrying out analysis, where the statistical information obtained will not be released or made available to a third party in a form that identifies the data subjects or any of them.
  2. It is not mandatory for the applicant(s) to provide the personal data as required in this application. However, if the applicant(s) do not provide such personal data, OGCIO will be unable to process the application, and no quota under this scheme can be allocated.
  3. OGCIO shall hold the personal data securely in accordance with prevailing government information security requirements. Appropriate technical and organisational measures such as data encryption, access control and firewalls will be in place to protect the personal data against unauthorised or accidental access, processing, erasure, loss or use.
  4. Transfer and/or Disclosure of the Data

  5. The personal data provided in the application(s) will not be used by the OGCIO for other purposes. OGCIO will also ensure that the personal data are not retained for a period longer than the time required for the purposes of the data collection.
  6. For the purposes stated in paragraph 1 above, or where disclosure is authorised or required by law, the personal data collected in this application will be transferred to relevant departments of the HKSAR Government, as well as relevant organisations and authorities responsible for immigration and public health matters for the purposes of immigration control and the protection of public health.
  7. Data Access Request

    1. You have the right to request for access to and correction of your own personal data provided in this application under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap 486) ("the Ordinance"), subject to any relevant exemption(s);
    2. Please note that we shall or may refuse to comply with a data access request in the circumstances specified in section 20 of the Ordinance; and
    3. Your requests or enquiries should be made by any one of the following means: (a) by email to enquiry_onlinebooking@ogcio.gov.hk; (b) by fax to 2802 4549; or (c) by post to 15/F, Wanchai Tower, 12 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

  • understand that any person who applies on behalf of another person / other persons must first obtain the prior consent of the person(s) concerned before using his or her personal data for the application.
